合同双方往往会在合同中约定合同生效日期,有效期间,以便对合同签署后可以有效地对合同进行管理。合同有效期满或提前终止,该合同通常就可以正常结束了,这对于合同管理非常重要。
有效期(Term)解释
规定了有效期,合同有效期满,合同自然终止。合同有效期长短的约定主要视客户需要而定,并没有太多涉及合同方权利义务的规定。但如果合同期太短,不能满足合同目的,则必将对合同方的权利义务产生影响,因为如果权利义务尚未完毕,而合同已经终止,则合同方不可能基于一个失效的合同继续履行其权利义务。在这种情况下,合同方当然可以商定延期。
有效期条款举例
下面是一个标准的合同有效期条款:

翻译园地-alternately, alternatively使用
(1) alternately意为“轮换着，交替地，先是……然后……”。
I'm alternately happy and depressed. 我一会儿高兴，一会儿沮丧。
(2) alternatively意思接近instead，意为“可以替换地，两者择一地”。
It may have been because of the weather, or alternatively it may have been the result of indigestion.
